Rocky Mountain National Park Summer Elopement
Kaila + Gus had one of the most memorable elopements I’ve ever been a part of! From the torrential downpour as we were supposed to be taking their golden hour photos, pivoting down to town to get coffee and some snacks to wait out the storm, and then the most MAGICAL sunset and rainbow to top it all off, this elopement day truly was one for the books.
In Rocky Mountain National Park, you need a permit to host a ceremony in any of the designated ceremony locations. K+G chose 3M Curve as their ceremony location, and it was simply breathtaking. As their family hoisted their Chuppah around them, they shared a heartfelt and tear jerking ceremony surrounded by some of the best views of the Rocky Mountains.
Following the ceremony, they set out blankets for a family picnic. A picnic is a great way to spend time with family during your elopement day, or just the two of you. Here’s a list of my favorite activities to include in your elopement day if you’re looking for more inspo!
As we separated from the family to take golden hour photos, we ran into a hell of a storm. Lightning, downpour rain, the whole gambit. Since it wasn’t safe for us to be outside at that point, we exited the park to grab a coffee and some snacks in Estes Park, and tried again once it looked like the storm was moving on. We manifested that it was clear all the way up to the top, and what do you know? It was clear from the storm, a gorgeous sunset was starting to set, AND their was a rainbow! We really lucked out on that one!
This elopement day was a great reminder to be flexible from the original plan. If we would’ve stuck to the original plan and left once it started raining, we never would’ve made it to see the incredible sunset and rainbow! Keeping a fluid approach to your elopement way is a great way to get the best outcome possible!
