Loveland Pass, Colorado Sunset Elopement
One of my all time favorite elopement locations close to Denver is Loveland Pass, aka the Continental Divide. But, I’m not talking about the summit that reaches 12,000ft altitude. I’m talking about the secret gems around Loveland Pass that aren’t as well known. Of course we’ll stop at the summit for some gorgeous photos, but I believe the more private locations around the area are more beautiful.
Nicole + Nathan started their day at their AirBNB cabin just outside of Breckenridge. This AirBNB was in the perfect spot, as it was close to both Breckenridge and Loveland Pass. We packed up the cars and headed over to a lake near Loveland Pass, where they shared a first look, and an intimate wedding ceremony, accompanied by their dog. Their dog even signed their marriage license as their legal witness! Colorado is the only state in the country that does not require a witness OR an officiant for your wedding ceremony. These two chose to have a family member officiate, but it’s not mandatory.
After the family went back to the AirBNB to set up their dinner, we got to explore the area just the 3 of us. My favorite little moment of the evening was telling them to cover the “L” and “P” in Loveland Pass, making it Love and Ass. I’m a child I know. We adventured and had 360 degree views of the gorgeous Rocky Mountain range around us, where the sunset was an epic finale to our evening.
When people say you have to drive hours and hours to find beautiful locations in Colorado, they forget about this gem just 1 hour west of Denver. While there are many more locations farther into the mountains, this one is definitely a winner with how close to both Denver and Breckenridge it is.
