Ouray, Colorado Winter Jeep + Camping Elopement
Savannah and Dustin planned an all-day elopement adventure in the Colorado mountains! These two traveled to Ouray, Colorado all the way from Phoenix, AZ. So when their dream fall elopement turned out to be snowy instead, to say they were a bit shocked would be an understatement. However, these two kept an open mind going into the day, and had a blast while doing it! When we reached the top of the mountain to their ceremony spot, we were the only people around for what felt like miles. There was a complete stillness and silence that made your breath catch in your throat. As S+D put on their wedding attire and got ready, I couldn’t help but look out into the beautiful snowy San Juan mountains, arguably one of the best mountain ranges in the country.
After sharing a sweet ceremony in a winter wonderland, we took our Jeep back down the mountain, stopping along the way for some gorgeous mountain portraits. It even began to snow! It was absolutely magical to see these two desert dwellers catch snowflakes on their tongues as they took in the beauty of the Colorado wilderness around them. A rainbow even popped out on our way to town, and it could not have been more perfect.
Since we spent the morning freezing, it was time to warm up a bit. S+D went to the local hot springs to take in the views while recovering from our cold morning. The private tubs at Box Canyon Lodge & Hot Springs are farrrrr superior to any thing else offered in the area, but you do have to stay at the lodge in order to access them. The lodge is a wonderful place to stay if you’re planning to elope in Ouray.
After warming up, it was time to end out our all day adventure together with a camp fire and cake. They got to cuddle up in a hammock for a bit, relax next to the camp fire, and take in the gorgeous fall leaves around them. It was truly a sight to behold.
This elopement day was truly one of my favorite of the 2022 season. This elopement is the reason why I push all-day elopements so hard. Why choose between the things you want to do on your wedding day when you can do them all over the span of the entire day?
