Silverton, Colorado Off-Roading Jeep Elopement
If there’s anything you take away from this blog post, it’s that the San Juan mountain range in south-western Colorado is one of the most magical places in the country. I may seem a bit biased since I live in Colorado, but I have to say, I have never come across a more magnificent mountain range in all of my travels across the US. There are an outrageous amount of hidden gems in this area, most of them you have to take an off-road vehicle to get to. That’s why the San Juan mountain range is considered the off-roading capital of the state. The San Juan mountain range includes Telluride, Ouray, Silverton, Creede and Lake City.
So, when Chelsea + Luke wanted to spend their elopement day adventuring through the San Juan mountains, I was SO stoked to point out some of my favorite places. We began their day Jeeping up to a gorgeous alpine lake surrounded by high snow-capped peaks, wildflowers, and a gorgeous valley stretching for miles at our backs. The groom and his entourage arrived in a black Toyota 4-Runner, and the bride a white Jeep Wrangler (how fitting!!!). After a beautiful first look, we took our places at the shore of the alpine lake, while Chelsea’s dad performed their elopement ceremony. It was really important to these two to include their closest family + friends, and having her dad perform the ceremony made for an emotional experience by all. Tears were shed, laughs were shared, and personal vows were exchanged.
Following the ceremony, the couple and their guests shared a cake picnic, along with other treats to share. The couple and I got to explore the area a bit to ourselves before heading out, and walking through the snow in the middle of July was a memorable time for them. We headed out to take an off-road trail to one of my favorite passes. It was so cool to drive through the pass surrounded by 6ft+ snow drifts that had yet to melt completely. As we reached the top, we explored, had a moment to take in the sunset, and soak up the beauty as it became dark.
On our way back to town, we stopped in the midst of a perfect blue-hour sunset to sign their marriage license and have some fun with the Jeep. It was the perfect end to a perfect day, and I am so happy these two trusted me with their off-roading elopement out here in the mountains of Colorado!
